Clonic Mutations at Tate Modern, Music for Un Chien Andalou

Sergio is a London based international creative producer, composer, cultural activist and consultant. He manages innovative interdisciplinary arts and digital media projects. He is passionate about engaging with film heritage by composing new music for silent films. In 2007 he was commissioned by Tate modern to produce Clonic Mutations, a full programme of new music for surreal silent films for the Dalí exhibition, connecting film, music and art won the Harlock Award at Rimusicazioni Film Festival and was performed live in Barcelona and Berlinale. A curious learner and forward thinking entrepreneur he has completed several business training courses as well as a Master in Digital Content Management, a course focused in the business, technical and legal aspects of the content creative industries. Creator of the Cultural Social Responsibility framework, he is actively promoting cultural heritage as a means towards socio-economic development looking at new forms of co-creative production, participatory learning processes and fair royalty distribution models. This new framework is looking at social impact through heritage engagement, the production of new work re-using archive media, promoting digital media literacy and intergenerational knowledge transfer. His work uses cultural music traditions as a starting point to engage young people and communities to collaborate through digital inclusion programmes, especially to integrate communities from various ethnic backgrounds and multiple identities in cities. He is the director of Big Bang Lab. In 2009 he won an international Cultural Leadership award supported by the British Council. Delhi City Symphony was the outcome of converting layers of complex information, diverse partners and media to a simple and transferable collaborative programme, a contemporary silent film about the city where underprivileged children and classical Indian musicians were at the centre of the creative process.
